Terms of use

Last updated: August 3, 2026

Purpose

These terms govern use of the Kill -9 Club learning platform, which provides courses on Linux system administration. The publisher is identified in the legal notice.

Using the site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

Access to the service

Browsing the catalogue and lessons marked as open requires no account. Recording your progress, quizzes and labs require one.

The service is provided without any guarantee of continuous availability. Interruptions for maintenance, updates or incidents may occur, with or without notice.

Access is free of charge. No payment is requested and no paid feature currently exists.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for actions taken from your account. Tell us if you notice access you did not authorise; your active sessions are listed in your account area.

An account is personal. Sharing credentials is not permitted.

You may delete your account at any time from your account area. Deletion takes effect after a 30-day grace period, during which you can cancel it.

The nature of the technical content

The courses cover systems that change: distribution releases, server software and library versions. Every lesson displays the date its technical content was last checked. That date is information, not a warranty.

You remain solely responsible for the commands you run on your own machines. The labs on this platform are simulated: nothing you type is executed on any server, here or elsewhere. The commands shown in lessons, however, do run for real if you reproduce them, and some are destructive.

Take a backup before acting on a production system, and do not apply an instruction you do not understand.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • attempt to access accounts, data or parts of the system not intended for you;
  • disrupt the service, including through an abnormal volume of requests;
  • extract the content in bulk by automated means;
  • use the service for unlawful activity, or to prepare an intrusion into a system you are not authorised to administer.

Intellectual property

The courses, text, illustrations and exercises are protected by copyright and remain the property of the publisher or their respective authors. You may read and use them for your own personal or professional learning.

Reproducing, republishing or distributing them for commercial purposes requires prior written permission.

The commands, configuration extracts and code examples shown in lessons may be reused freely in your own work.

Trade marks and product names mentioned (Ubuntu, ISPConfig, Nginx and others) belong to their respective owners and are referred to descriptively.

Content you produce

Your personal notes, quiz answers and reports belong to you. We use them only to run the service: showing your progress, marking an exercise, handling a report.

Reporting an error in a course may lead to the content being corrected, without creating any obligation or entitlement to payment.

Liability

The publisher cannot be held liable for damage resulting from applying an instruction to your systems, from the service being unavailable, or from data loss following an account deletion requested by its holder.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, in particular for gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

Suspension and termination

An account breaching the acceptable use rules may be suspended. Where possible a warning precedes suspension, except where urgency or seriousness makes that impossible.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page. Account holders are informed of any substantial change.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought before any legal action. Consumers may refer the matter to a consumer mediator free of charge.
